Lethal x Dexter

Genuinely a brand worth considering, Lethal Cosmetics. I've already raved before about their successful collaboration with Avatar the Last Airbender, which, by the way, is still available to buy. Definitely go take a look at that awesome collection!
The collection that followed is a collaboration with Dexter. Dexter is a series about a serial killer who works for the police. I've never watched it myself, but I have watched a lot of it alongside Jesse. Because of that I understood the references Lethal uses. The palette, for example, is based on the blood slide box, where he keeps blood from all his victims. The colours in the palette obviously refer to different shades of blood!

This is my first eyeshadow palette from Lethal Cosmetics. I know the brand because of their single eyeshadows, and especially the multichrome variant. Do I own any? Unfortunately not, since €17 for a single eyeshadow, I still find pretty steep. That said, the quality is genuinely fantastic. The other formulas too! So I was really curious about the eyeshadows in the palette.

The full Dexter collection

For the Dexter fan, I think this is a really appealing collection. I do think it's a fairly specific collection in terms of the products chosen for it. The only lip products are lip stains, and that's not something I use. I do get why they went with that for the collection though. Because 'stain', translated literally, means, well, a stain. And blood stains, etc.? On top of that they also have four nail polishes, which I also don't use, and a giant liquid highlighter doesn't really excite me either. In short, the makeup products and nail polish aren't really for me, but I'm sure plenty of people are into them! What about the brush set then? Genuinely, brutally well made, but I already have a fairly extensive collection from Réphr, so adding a set like that felt like a waste.

Dexter palette

This is definitely not your standard palette, and by that I mainly mean the sheer size. We've seen the shape before, but they genuinely tried to turn it into a sort of little box. A pretty specific box, namely Dexter's. It's Dexter's blood slide box. On the short end there's a gold metal clasp. Around it is a removable white cardboard sleeve, with additional information about the palette (ingredients) on the back. The box itself is made of cardboard with a soft-touch finish. There's an elongated mirror on the inside of the lid. I do have to mention I find it an odd choice that the lid of the palette is attached at the bottom in the 'normal' way. It's only connected by fairly thin cardboard. It already feels a bit unstable.
On the inside there's some more blood-themed artwork visible, and the eyeshadows sit in a row.

Sorry, I took the photos after swatching.....

The Dexter palette swatches

There are 11 eyeshadows in total, in two finishes; matte and metallic. Lethal Cosmetics themselves give advice on how to use the eyeshadows:
Mattes - Give them a quick swatch to familiarize yourself with the pigmentation. Our highly pigmented shadows don't have to be swirled. Dipping your brush gently will pick up plenty of pigment. Use a blending or shader brush for best results.
Metallics - Apply with a dense brush or your finger. Our metallic shadows perform great when used dry, but spraying your brush with setting spray can further enhance the shine. Avoid getting moisture into your eyeshadow pan.

Let's move on to the first three shades. It's hard to divide 11 colours up neatly!
Nurse Mary; a purple/red matte shade.
Harry; raspberry pink matte shade. Definitely a shade to build up.
Tooth Fairy; pink/red metallic. What a gorgeous formula, really intense.

Now let's move on to the next four shades, number four through seven.
Doakes; pink/red matte shade. Super pigmented.
Rita; metallic with a pink/purple effect.
Trinity; light champagne shade, metallic.
ITK; super shiny silver metallic.

These are the last four in the row. The somewhat more muted shades of this palette, which let you tone down your eye look a bit.
Lila; a lavender shade, but with a grey base. Feels a bit draggy.
Miguel; grey matte shade, with a blue undertone. Buildable.
Debra; metallic, really special. A black/dark blue base with a shifting glitter on top.
Doomsday; brown/black matte shade.

To wrap up

Really fun to finally try a palette from Lethal Cosmetics. Really cool to experience the quality of their eyeshadow. These shades aren't available individually, by the way, and were designed specifically for this palette only. As I'd honestly already expected, I'm really impressed by the palette. The metallic shades especially have a really smooth quality and are spectacular. Most of the matte shades are also genuinely a pleasure to use, and you only need a tiny bit on your brush.
